Ps. 40:1-3; 137; 138
Devil, You Can’t Have My Song

Day 1 – When Life Knocks the Song Out of You

Scripture: By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept when we remembered Zion.  Psalm 137:1

Commentary: Sometimes life hits like that vacuum on Chippie—sudden, confusing, and overwhelming. One moment you're fine, the next you're sitting in silence, wondering what just happened. Faith doesn’t deny those moments. It acknowledges them. Even God’s people wept. But your silence isn’t your final state. Just because the storm stunned you doesn’t mean your song is gone forever. God is still near, even in the quiet.

Prayer: Lord, You see me in the moments when I don’t even have words. When life overwhelms me, remind me that You are still with me. Help me not to lose heart in the silence. Gently restore my song in Your time. Amen.

Day 2 – God Gave You That Song

Scripture: He has put a new song in my mouth—Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord.  Psalm 40:3

Commentary: That song in your heart didn’t come from the world—it came from God. He lifted you, changed you, gave you joy where there was sorrow. And if He gave it, the enemy can’t just take it. The devil may try to silence you, but he didn’t write your song. God did. And what God starts, He sustains. So stand firm today and remind yourself: this joy is heaven-given, not circumstance-driven.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the new song You placed in my heart. When I forget where it came from, remind me. Help me hold onto the joy You gave me, no matter what comes. Amen.

Day 3 – When You Don’t Feel Like Singing

Scripture: The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord.  Job 1:21

Commentary: There are days when singing feels impossible. When pain speaks louder than praise. Job understood that place. He didn’t pretend everything was okay—he chose to trust anyway. Sometimes your song isn’t loud or pretty. Sometimes it’s a whisper of faith: “God, I still trust You.” And that kind of song shakes hell just as much. You don’t have to understand everything to keep worshiping through it.

Prayer: God, when I don’t understand and don’t feel strong, help me still trust You. Even if my song is weak, receive it. Give me grace to worship You in every season. Amen.

Day 4 – Sing Anyway

Scripture: I will praise You with my whole heart; Before the gods I will sing praises to You. Psalm 138:1

Commentary: This world may feel like a strange land, full of noise, pressure, and voices pulling you away from God. But your praise doesn’t depend on your surroundings. You can still sing—right there, in the middle of it all. Even when others don’t understand, even when culture pushes back, your song still matters. Lift your eyes, fix your heart on Him, and sing anyway. Heaven hears you, even if the world doesn’t.

Prayer: Lord, help me keep my focus on You, no matter where I am. Give me courage to praise You boldly, even when it’s hard. I choose to sing anyway. Amen.

Day 5 – Your Song Breaks Chains

Scripture: But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Acts 16:25

Commentary: Paul and Silas didn’t wait for freedom to sing—they sang in chains. Beaten, hurting, confined… and still praising. Why? Because they knew something: praise is power. When you sing in your midnight, something shifts. Fear loosens. Hope rises. Others start listening. Your song isn’t just for you—it’s a testimony. Keep singing, even through tears, because breakthrough often begins with a praise you didn’t feel like giving.

Prayer: God, teach me to praise You even in my midnight moments. When I feel bound, remind me that my worship has power. Let my song bring freedom—first in me, then in others. Amen.

Day 6 – Jesus Sang Through It All

Scripture: And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. Matthew 26:30

Commentary: Jesus sang knowing the cross was ahead. He didn’t stop. Through betrayal, pain, and death, His song continued—obedience, forgiveness, victory. And because He kept singing, you have a song today. The grave couldn’t silence Him, and it won’t silence you either. His victory is your assurance: no matter what you face, your song has the final word. So lift it up—Jesus already secured the ending.

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for showing me how to endure with faith. Because You never stopped, I don’t have to either. Strengthen me to keep my song alive, no matter what I face. Amen.
