Isaiah 49:14–16
God Has Not Forgotten You

Devotions for the week from this sermon

Day 1 — When You Feel Forgotten

Scripture: “But Zion said, ‘The Lord has forsaken me, and the Lord has forgotten me.’” — Isaiah 49:14
Even God's people sometimes feel unseen. Israel did. You and I do too. Silence can feel like absence. But God doesn't rebuke the cry of the discouraged—He listens to it. He meets honesty with compassion, not condemnation. Feeling forgotten isn't failure; it's human. And even in that moment, your feelings don't rewrite His faithfulness.

Application
Think of a cloudy day—the sun hidden from sight. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's left the sky. In the same way, God's presence isn't tied to what you can feel. When the day feels dim, whisper this prayer: “Lord, even when I feel forgotten, thank You that You remember me.”

Day 2 —The Love That Cannot Forget

Scripture: “Can a woman forget her nursing child…? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands.” — Isaiah 49:15–16
God compares His love to that of a mother holding her newborn. Even that fierce tenderness pales next to His love for you. He hasn't written your name where it might fade—He has engraved it on His hands. Permanently. Personally. Passionately.

Application
Have you ever picked up an old photograph and felt warmth rise in your heart? That's what your name does for God. Each time He moves, your name is before Him. Nothing in your life has slipped His memory. Rest in this truth today: You are engraved, not forgotten.

Day 3 — God Is Present in Every Room

Scripture “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?... If I make my bed in the depths, You are there.”  — Psalm 139:7–8

God is not confined by space or time. He fills hospital rooms and quiet living rooms alike. He stands beside the lonely chair as tenderly as He does the church pew. Your space is not too small for His glory. What the world calls confinement, God calls holy ground. For He IS there

Application:
Like sunlight touching every corner through a window, the Spirit of God finds you where you are. Let this be your quiet confidence: This room is not empty, it's occupied by grace. Look around today and say out loud, “God is here.”

Day 4 — The Shepherd Who Stays

Scripture: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me.” — Psalm 23:4

The Shepherd doesn't just lead us through green pastures; He walks with us through shadows. When life slows down, and strength fades, He doesn't rush ahead—He stays near. His rod still protects. His staff still guides. His presence is proof you're not walking alone.

Application:
Picture a shepherd carrying a weary lamb across his shoulders. The lamb isn't any less loved because it can't walk; it's simply closer to the Shepherd's heart. Today, if you feel too tired to take another step, let Him carry you. Whisper, “Lord, I'm Yours to carry.”

Day 5 — You Still Matter to God’s Kingdom

Scripture: “The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” — James 5:16

When hands can't serve, and feet can't go, the heart can still pray. Heaven hears the prayers whispered from a bedside just as powerfully as those spoken from a pulpit. Your faithfulness still counts in God's kingdom. God measures faithfulness, not busyness.

Application:
An old lighthouse may no longer be manned, yet its light still guides ships home. So do your prayers, for they shine where others cannot go. Don't underestimate the quiet power of your intercession. Today, take a few moments to name those you love before the Lord. You're still a light.

Day 6 — Jesus Understands Being Alone

Scripture: “He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief.”
 — Isaiah 53:3
Jesus knew what it meant to be overlooked and alone. He understands the ache of loneliness—not from observation, but from experience. That means every tear you shed is familiar to Him. You don't cry in isolation; you cry in the company of a Savior who gets it.

Application:
Remember how a friend's presence, quietly sitting with you, can ease pain without a word? Jesus does that for you every day. Let His nearness comfort you. Whisper, “Lord, thank You for sitting beside me when no one else can.”

Day 7 — Hope for the Waiting Heart

Scripture: “See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before Me.” — Isaiah 49:16
Nothing about your life is forgotten. Not one prayer. Not one sigh. God remembers your story sentence by sentence. Your days are held in His hands—and those hands still bear the marks of love. Even when you can't trace His hand, you can trust His heart.

Application:
Imagine an artist still working on a canvas that others might think is finished. He's still adding detail—color—life. That's what God is doing with you. He's not done. You are still part of His masterpiece. Today, choose hope. Speak it over yourself: “God has not forgotten me.”
