Resting in the Hands That Hold the Nation

Daniel 2:21

Prayer

Today's Encouragement

We have prayed. We have studied the issues. We have stood in line, cast our ballots, and done our part. So now what? We leave it in God’s hands. (Ephesians 6:13) Have you ever planted a garden? You tilled the soil, scattered the seed, and watered faithfully. But you can’t make it grow. All you can do is step back and trust the One who sends the sun and the rain. That’s where we are with our elections. Our job was faithfulness. The outcome belongs to God. Daniel reminds us that God changes the times and seasons and sets leaders in their places. No ruler rises by accident, and none falls by surprise. Heaven is never caught off guard by a headline or a vote count. He is on His throne, working all things according to His purpose. (Daniel 2:21) That doesn’t mean we stop praying. It means we pray with peace instead of panic, with faith instead of fear. The same God who was in control yesterday is in control today. So, we keep praying for those in authority, whether we voted for them or not, that they would govern with wisdom, integrity, and humility. (1 Timothy 2:1–2; Romans 13:1) And let’s not forget to say thank you. Thank You, Lord, for this great nation. Thank You for the freedom to worship, to speak, to gather, and to vote, and for those who sacrificed so we could. (Psalm 33:12)
