Resting in the Hands of God

Psalm 4:8

Prayer

Lord, quiet my anxious thoughts and help me release the things I cannot control. Remind me that You are watching over me. Let me rest in Your unfailing care. Amen.

Today's Encouragement

Have you ever had nights when sleep seems impossible? I know I have. Nights when your mind refuses to slow down because you find yourself worrying about things you cannot change, wondering what might happen, or trying to figure out how tomorrow will unfold. Does any of this sound familiar? Worry has a way of knocking loudly at the door of our minds, rehearsing problems that have no solutions in the middle of the night. We lie there thinking about things we cannot control, allowing tomorrow’s uncertainties to steal the peace God wants us to enjoy today. Yet David, a man who knew real danger, real enemies, and real loss, declared that he could lie down and sleep in peace. How could he do that? What did David understand that we sometimes forget? His peace did not depend on favorable circumstances, the absence of trouble, or the assurance that everything would work out the way he wanted. His security rested in God alone. David declared, “You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety” (Psalm 4:8). That little word alone says so much. Not the doctor’s report, not the bank account, not the outcome of tomorrow’s appointment, and not the circumstances surrounding us. Our peace is not found in what we can see, predict, or control. It is found in God alone. I want to encourage you today. Whether you are lying in a hospital bed, sitting in a quiet room filled with worry, or simply finding it difficult to quiet your mind at night, remember this: The One who never sleeps is watching over you. He does not grow weary, He does not doze off, and He is never distracted by what is happening in your life. He is fully present, fully attentive, and fully in control. Before you close your eyes tonight, release whatever you have been carrying. Talk to the Lord plainly about what is troubling your heart. Tell Him what you fear, what you do not understand, and what you cannot change. Then leave it at His altar. And rest. Not because every problem has been resolved, or because you know what tomorrow holds, but because you know the One who holds tomorrow. You do not have to stay awake worrying about what God is already watching over. The Lord is awake, He is watching, and you are safe in His hands.
