Never Too Old, Never Too Limited

Psalm 92:14

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You that You have a purpose for each one of us. Forgive us when we count ourselves out because of age, weakness, or limits. Show us what You have placed in our hands, and give us faithful hearts like Marianne’s. Use our prayers, our phone calls, and our small acts of love for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today's Encouragement

Does God ever retire His servants? Not that I’ve found. We’re quick to write someone off because of age or limited ability, but God never does. YOU HAVE A PURPOSE I remember reading about when Dwight L. Moody went to England. In 1872, Moody came to England and was persuaded to preach at a church in London. Unknown to him, a bedridden woman named Marianne Adlard had been praying for years for revival there. His morning sermon was poorly received, but that evening hearts broke open and many responded to Christ. More than 400 joined the church, and revival spread across England. Moody later learned who had been praying. I pastored a dear lady who couldn’t attend church because of severe breathing problems. She could barely walk from the bedroom to the living room. But she didn’t quit. She asked me to call her every Monday morning with the names of those who missed Sunday and any visitors. Then she called each one to let them know they were missed and welcome. In all my years as her pastor, I never heard her complain or question God. She stayed faithful to what He gifted her to do. “They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing.” (Psalm 92:14) “No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary.” (1 Corinthians 12:22) The body of Christ needs every part, and age or physical limitation never disqualifies anyone from being used by God. Don’t count yourself out, and don’t count anyone else out either. So what has He placed in your hands today?
